(“SBT”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), takes your privacy very seriously.  This Privacy Policy describes, among other things, what personal information we collect about you and other persons, how we may use that information, how we may share that information with others, how we keep that information secure, and how you can contact us about this Privacy Policy.  By using or accessing our website or using our products and services or mobile applications, you acknowledge that you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy set forth below. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use our website or any of our products or services or mobile applications.

We reserve the right to change or update this Privacy Policy, or any of our privacy practices, at any time, with reasonable notice to you.  Any changes or updates to this Privacy Policy will be effective immediately when we post an updated version of this Privacy Policy to our website or in our mobile applications.

Information We Collect

In connection with providing our website, products and services, and mobile applications, we collect the following types of information:

  • First name, last name, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing address;
  • Internet protocol (IP) address;
  • Device name/ID;
  • Home wireless SSID;
  • The geolocation of your mobile device(s) or our devices when you have enabled these features;
  • Account information you submit if you open an account with us including login details and passwords;
  • Data and analytics information regarding your use and interactions with our website and mobile applications
  • Information you submit if you apply for employment with us such as your resume;
  • Information you voluntarily submit to us through our website or mobile applications;
  • Content that is recorded using our devices such as video and audio content which may include recording individual persons’ facial features and voices and movements or other aspects of the surrounding environment.

Privacy laws and other regulations and laws in your state, country, or jurisdiction may impose other obligations or responsibilities on you and your use of our devices.  You agree and acknowledge that it is your responsibility, and not SBT’s responsibility, to ensure your compliance with any such applicable laws or regulations when you use our recording devices such as, for example, laws or regulations: (a) regarding the recording or sharing of video or audio content; (b) requiring that you give notice or obtain consent from third parties with respect to your use of our devices (for example, laws or regulations requiring that you display conspicuous signs or notices informing third parties that you may be recording them in some manner); and (c) requiring that use of any devices which record video or audio content be installed in a particular manner such that it does not record beyond your own property’s boundaries or if your use of such device is in a place of employment that you comply with laws regarding the monitoring or recording of employees and/or providing notice to such employees that they are being recorded.  In the event you provide any other person’s personal information to us through our website, devices, or mobile applications, you represent and warrant that you will do so in compliance with any other applicable privacy laws and that you are not providing the information for any improper purpose.

Cookies and Data We Collect

We use cookies to enable certain features on our website or in our mobile applications.  A “cookie” is a small text file sent by our website or mobile application to your computer or mobile device to identify your web browser or to store information or settings in your web browser.  For example, a cookie can be sent in order to provide you ease of access to your account without having to login or to set certain preferences.  Your web browser or mobile device can be set to reject cookies or you can delete cookies from your browser or mobile device, however, if you do so, you may not be able to use certain feature or functionality of our website or mobile applications.

This information is aggregated and used to improve our products and services or provide more useful products and services to our customers by helping us understand how are devices, website, and mobile applications are used. We may also display this information publicly or provide it to others, however, we do not disclose personally-identifying information.

If you send us a support request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish the non-personally identifiable parts of it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users.

If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.

Secure Credit Card Transactions

When you purchase products from us or subscribe to our services, you may be required to provide financial information such as your credit card information.  We use third-party payment processors that collect your credit card information in order to bill you for our products and services.  We do not store or maintain your credit card information in our servers or information systems.  However, your credit card information is protected and encrypted and Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) technology is used as your information is transmitted over the Internet by our payment processors.

The Purposes for Which We Collect and Use Your Information

We use the information we collect about you for the following purposes:

  • To provide you and our users with our products and services or information they request from us;
  • To provide assistance or support to our customers and users for our products and services and to keep them informed of the same;
  • To maintain security of our IT systems, including debugging or detecting fraud, protecting users’ rights or accounts, or to enforce this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use;
  • To allow our customers to create user accounts with us and for us to maintain those accounts;
  • To process orders or other transactions requested by our customers and users;
  • To market our products and services to customers or to send them content personalized to them;

  • To help you customize and personalize your experience and usage of our products and services;
  • To perform analytics and conduct research on the use of our products and services so that we may improve them;

How We Share Information We Collect

We do not rent or sell your name or other personal information to other companies except as described in this Privacy Policy.  We may disclose your personal information to (1) our affiliates and subsidiaries and (2) our service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as marketing, customer service, order fulfillment, shipping, payment processing, and data analytics and storage.  Our service providers only use your personal information as is necessary to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements.  We also may disclose your personal information to third parties for payment processing and fraud prevention purposes.

We may share statistical or aggregated non-personal information about our users with advertisers, business partners, sponsors and other third parties.  This data is used to customize our website or mobile application content and advertising to deliver a better experience to our users.

We reserve the right to disclose users’ personal information in special cases, when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, other SBT website users or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. We may disclose personal information without notice to you in response to a subpoena or when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or to respond to an emergency situation.

Your Rights and Choices Regarding Your Information

You may have certain rights regarding your information under applicable laws such as (1) the right to know what information we collected about you in the past 12 months; (2) the right to know the sources from where we collected such information; (3) the right to correct or delete your information, subject to certain exceptions; (4) the right to know how we disclosed your information, to whom, and for what purposes; (5) the right to receive your information in a usable and portable format; and (6) the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of the foregoing rights.  If you wish to exercise any of the foregoing rights, you may contact us at our contact information listed at the end of this Privacy Policy.  Once we receive your request and verify your identity, we will then respond to you in connection with your request.  Please note that in certain circumstances, we may not permit you to completely delete your personal information that we have about you.  For example, we are not required to delete your personal information if we must retain it to complete a transaction you requested, detect security incidents or fraud, debug products, comply with legal obligations, enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us, or make other internal and lawful uses of the information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.

Retention of Information

We keep and store your personal information to allow you to continue to use our products and services, for as long as it is required to fulfill any purposes for which collected such information, as permitted or required by law, or as otherwise communicated to you.  For example, certain video and audio content recorded by you using our products or devices are stored by us in your account for different periods of time depending on the type of account you have with us.

Non-Discrimination

If you choose to exercise any of your privacy rights as stated above, we will not discriminate against you in any manner for doing so.

Removal from SkyBell Lists

You may receive periodic emails or postal mailings from us with information on new products and services, or upcoming events.  If you do not want to receive such e-mails and/ or postal mail from us in the future, please let us by submitting a ticket request to our customer service at: https://skybelltechnologies.zendesk.com/hc/en-us.  Please note that although you may be able to opt-out of such periodic emails or postal mailings from us, you will not be able to opt-out of certain communications we need to send to you such as emails confirming transactions you have entered into with us, product or service announcements regarding the operation of our website or mobile application, or emails notifying you about changes to this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use.

Children’s Privacy Policy

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18 or knowingly allow such persons to register for our Services either through our website or mobile applications (as defined in our Terms of Use).  If you are under the age of 18, please do not attempt to register for our Services or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address.  No one under the age of 18 may provide any personal information to SBT.  If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you register for our Services or use our website or mobile application, you therefore represent and warrant to us that: (i) you are of legal age to form a binding contract; (ii) all registration information and personal information you submit is accurate and truthful; and (iii) you will maintain the accuracy of such information. You also certify that you are legally permitted to use and access the Services and take full responsibility for the selection and use of and access to the Services.  We reserve the right to terminate your access to our Services or use our website or mobile application if you violate the terms of this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use.

Please be advised that our website or mobile applications may contain links to third party websites or services.  The linked sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of use of any linked site(s) or any link on a linked site.
